'This is going to be the buzziest book of 2017 . . . This year The Girl Before will be that book' InStyle

'A girl thriller that outdoes Paula Hawkins' Sunday Times

'A really clever thriller . . . [the film] will no doubt become the third big "Girl" film' Daily Mail

Enter the world of One Folgate Street and discover perfection . . . but can you pay the price?

Jane stumbles on the rental opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to live in a beautiful ultra-minimalist house designed by an enigmatic architect, on condition she abides by a long list of exacting rules. After moving in, she discovers that a previous tenant, Emma, met a mysterious death there - and starts to wonder if her own story will be a re-run of the girl before. As twist after twist catches the reader off guard, Emma's past and Jane's present become inexorably entwined in this tense, page-turning portrayal of psychological obsession.

Following in the footsteps of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, The Girl Before is being brought to the big screen by Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard.

'A deeply addictive literary thriller that deserves to be one of this year's biggest successes' Daily Express

I enjoyed reading this book, but was disappointed with the conclusions and felt it was a bit predictable. Still, it kept my interest and was an enjoyable read to pass the time!
  • A good read however

A very good read however at times it seems you are reading the same book twice. Intentional I’m sure due to the narrative however it can be quite jarring at times. Also the iBooks formatting leaves some to be desired leaving multiple blank pages throughout the book further breaking up sections that don’t need to be broken up. The narrative itself however is fantastic. A compelling read and a great page turner. And at a very good price. Definitely recommend reading.

I’ve read many, many books but never one like this. The construction of the story is unique, as far as I’m aware, and brings the characters to life and the plot into focus in a strange but satisfying way. A compelling tale with layer upon layer of psychological issues with which the reader grapples.

Not a bad read, I’ve read worse but can’t say I’d recommend it. Got a bit bored of the to-Ing and fro-in between Jane and Emma, the therapist seemed pointless? And have to say it was easy to figure out the murderer and the ending was a bit pointless?
